Jerry Hanrahan has worked on employee
benefits issues for over two decades.
He has extensive experience in the design,
administration and distribution of insurance products and
services for employee benefit plans. Throughout his career Jerry
has represented insurance companies on a wide range of federal
and state compliance and regulatory issues in individual and
group life and health products. He has provided detailed advice
on insurance and securities issues around advertising and
marketing review, appropriate agreements and documents to
support product distribution systems and company obligations
regarding information privacy matters. He has worked on a wide
variety of reinsurance matters including agreements necessary to
support the sale of various blocks of individual and group
insurance business.
Jerry has worked on Administrative services
arrangements, nondiscrimination rules, cafeteria plan and COBRA
administration and business owned life insurance for employee
benefit plans. Recently he has spent time on the issues around
annuitization programs for retirement payouts and the funding of
retiree health plans.
Jerry has provided general corporate support at
the corporate secretarial level and in drafting company policies
and procedures. He has extensive contracting experience in the
areas of employment and general vendor contract drafting and
negotiating. He has been directly involved in designing
marketing programs with the associated content review and
supporting agreements.
Jerry received his undergraduate degree from
Manhattan College and his law degree from Fordham University. He
is a member of the New York and New Jersey bars.
Prior to becoming Of Counsel to Giller and
Calhoun, Jerry worked for the financial services company,
TIAA-CREF in various legal capacities including General Counsel,
Individual Client Services, and for Anthem Health and Life
Insurance Company from 1993 to 1999 as General Counsel. Jerry’s
office is located in New York. He is an active volunteer with
Habitat for Humanity and is involved in developing their new
initiative in Critical Home Repair.
